Hike ‘til nightfall

Though maintaining fitness may not be required to such extent, a hike along the familiar Loch Lomond on one of the longest days of the year provides the perfect backdrop to an enduring day’s effort. After leaving the restricted camping zone around 9pm, the walk goes on until visibility becomes a challenge around 11pm. Insects in the forest make pitching the tent a nervy event, though after nearly 70km in the Scottish highlands, they are quickly forgotten in the comfort provided by the sleeping bag and the by now accustomed to small tent.
